April showers bring May flowers, right? Well April showers can also bring spotty spray tans if you aren’t prepared! The number one enemy of an Air-Tan within the first 8 hours of application is water. Within those 8 hours, your tan is developing to produce the long lasting golden tan you want. Any area that comes in contact with water (or any other liquid–coffee, Diet Coke, etc.) may not develop and make a spot on your skin, like the photo below.
So getting an Air-Tan on a rainy day can prove to be a challenge, especially if it’s a downpour, but it can be done! First and foremost, make sure your skin is covered head to toe! A rain jacket and an umbrella are perfect for really rainy day, but a hooded sweatshirt would suffice if it’s very lightly raining. Sweat pants are great because they are loose but also cover your legs. And for your feet? Flip flops are a big no-no on rainy days because they will take the water from the ground and flip it onto the back of your legs. Your best bet would be some rain boots, but some slip-on shoes would be ok, too.
We all know spring showers can be very unpredictable and pop up without much warning. In those cases, we sell ponchos that you can throw on! They are only $6 and will protect your fresh tan from getting splotchy!
